It is an amazing life about Wilfred Thesiger. He has crossed the Empty Quarter of Arabian desert. He lived with marsh Arabs in southern Iraq. He has published many books.
Wilfred Thesiger was born in 1911. He was grown up in a mud building in Addis Ababa. His father is a diplomat.
Wilfred Thesiger learnt to ride when he was 3years old. He was interested in hunting at 4years old. Then he went to school in England when he was 8years old.
At 23 years old, he found the source of Awash River in Abyssinia. Then he explored the Tibesti Mountains of Chad. During his hunting period, he shot some lions, buffalo and elephants. And he killed a hippo with a spear.
In World War Ⅱ, he fought in Africa. Then he fought with Druse horsemen in Syria.
1950s, he travelled in Pakistan and Afghanistan. He took many photos and kept a diary. Recently, he published a book about this experience.
In mid-1990s, he returned to England form Kenya. He lived in nursing home near London since then. There were many operations on his eyes, but he was still strong.
He has never married and regretted it. And he never wanted a child because it was too expensive.
